President's Message

Welcome friends and colleagues. Thank you for your continued support of The Georgia Association of Physician Assistants. With your support and participation, the GAPA is able to advocate and advance the profession as our AAPA state constituent organization. Support for the GAPA comes in a myriad of ways. By voicing your thoughts and opinions, we are able to make a difference now and for the future of our profession in meaningful ways. If you haven’t already, consider joining the GAPA and taking advantage of all the benefits we have to offer. We strive to improve year after year by utilizing the feedback that you provide in order to make your CME dollars worth it. Reward yourself with our outstanding summer CME conference at the beach this July for a week of top tier educational opportunities with a view. Bring your family and friends and I assure you that our conference locations will not disappoint.

My name is Skyler Lamberth, MSPAS, PA-C and I have been a member of the GAPA since my time training at South University. I am impressed year after year at the dedication each past President and GAPA official has put into making sure that the GAPA mission succeeds. We plan to continue to take a strategic stepwise approach under the guidance of our LGA chair and Legislative Consultant to aggressively pursue the Six Key Elements of Modern PA Practice with the ultimate goal of eliminating the burdensome administrative constraints on PAs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals working together to provide quality care. Last year, we saw the AAPA House of Delegates vote majority for title change from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate. The GAPA will be sure that we carefully adopt and implement title change strategically under the guidance of AAPA officials.

A special thanks to our active and veteran military members. We thank you for your sacrifice to our great country. I’d also like to take a moment to highlight our new Legislative Consultant Sheila Humberstone who has been working extremely close with us to move our agenda. We trust that you will continue to do great things for our profession. Thank you to our PAC for the fund raising you provide to fuel the GAPA mission. Without your help, we could not function in the state of GA at this capacity. Thank you to our immediate past President Haley Queen, and to past President Negin Bauer for your mentorship and continued selflessness to better our profession. To our wonderful Board of Directors and executive team, I am grateful for your wisdom, decisiveness, and availability to make crucial decisions for the GAPA. Also, thank you Mary and our Conference Planning Committee. This is hands down the best CME conference I have been to and it continues to improve every year. Keep up the great work. Thank you Christy for the work you do with our students. I was fortunate enough to help as the Master of Ceremonies for this portion of the conference last year and am blown away at the great student presence within our organization. We look forward to seeing you students and congratulating the award winners and scholarship recipients on your jobs well done. Best of luck in the annual competitions. I look forward to seeing you compete. Most of all, thank you to the GAPA members who are the reason the GAPA exists.

Voice your opinions and take advantage of this opportunity to improve the future of your profession. The GAPA wants you to be heard.

Loyally,

Skyler Lambreth, PA-C
